Dan Hayes
CEO, HC Co.
As Idaho’s population continues to grow, what suggestions do you have to help maintain all that makes Idaho special?
For better or worse, Idaho is a different place than it was ten or twenty years ago. This has included positive effects such as more entrepreneurship, growth in business and individual earnings, and more vibrant urban areas. This also comes with increased traffic, the blending of different cultural experiences, and more population at your favorite outdoor areas. Just a couple thoughts are that Idaho must focus on its infrastructure, transportation, including public transit, and maintain and protect its open spaces. We as a population must respect and take care of those shared spaces, so they continue to have value into the future. Most importantly be patient, kind and respectful with each other.
What traits are most important to you when hiring for, or promoting individuals within, your company?
Besides understanding the job, and why we do what we do, the most successful team members that I’ve worked with tend to create relationships, understand the needs of others they work with and for, and show that they share those concerns and will do what it takes to take care of them.
